Why Our Handmade Rugs Cost Less: Direct-Importer Prices, Same Quality
Most hand-knotted rugs pass through several hands before they reach a showroom. Ours don’t.
The usual path of a handmade rug
A rug woven in Afghanistan or Pakistan usually goes from the weaver to a local trader, then an exporter, a U.S. importer, a wholesaler and finally a retail store. Each step adds its own margin, and some stores add more for "sales" that were never real discounts.
Our path
Our founder travels to Afghanistan and chooses the rugs himself, and our own team there prepares and ships them to our showrooms. There is no importer, wholesaler or distributor in between, so in most cases our price is at least half of what a traditional rug gallery asks for a comparable rug.
Lower price, not lower quality
The same hand-knotted wool, the same vegetable dyes, the same weavers. We guarantee the authenticity and quality of every rug for life, and every listing shows the measured size, the wool and the origin.
Fair, marked prices
Every rug has a marked price. We never ask your budget and price to it. If you find the same rug for less at a legitimate seller, we match it.
See it for yourself
Compare any rug with what you have seen elsewhere: visit our Chicago or Evanston showroom, take a rug home on approval if you are local, or order online with free insured U.S. shipping and 30-day returns.
Questions
Why are your rugs cheaper than other rug stores?
We buy directly in Afghanistan and Pakistan with our own team, so there is no importer, wholesaler or distributor margin in our price.
Are cheaper rugs lower quality?
No. Our rugs are hand-knotted in wool with vegetable dyes by the same weavers that supply other stores. We guarantee authenticity and quality for life.
Do you price match?
Yes. If you find the same rug for less at a legitimate seller, we match the price.
Do you have sales?
We keep fair marked prices all year and run clearly dated offers, so you never need to wait for a fake sale.
