Persian Rugs
Persian rugs are hand-knotted in Iran, and this collection holds only rugs actually made there. Most are vintage and antique pieces in village and tribal designs, such as Hamadan, Qashqai and Lilihan, with the worn-in softness and color that only age gives. Sizes range from small mats and scatter rugs to room sizes and runners. Each listing gives the region, age and exact size, and every rug is one of a kind. See them in person at the Rugistan® showrooms in Evanston and Chicago, take one home on approval if you are local, or order online with free U.S. shipping and 30-day returns.
Our guide: Kashan rugs: what to look for
Buying a rug from us, answered
How can I tell if a Persian rug is real?
Turn it over. A hand-knotted Persian rug shows every knot on the back, slightly uneven, with the pattern as clear as on the front, and the fringe is the end of the warp threads, not sewn on. Every Persian rug we sell carries a lifetime guarantee that it is what the listing says.
Are your Persian rugs new or vintage?
Most are vintage and antique pieces chosen one at a time, with some newer weaving. Each listing states the age, the weaving town where known (for example Heriz or Kashan), the wool and the measured size.
Why do Persian rugs cost more than other rugs?
Fine city weaving takes many more knots per square inch and months on the loom, and older pieces are no longer made. Our prices are marked on every rug, and we match the price of the same rug at a legitimate seller.
Can I see this rug before I buy it?
Yes. Rugs marked in stock are on the floor in our Chicago rug store or Evanston rug store. Take one home on approval, or ask us for a FaceTime walk-around so you see the colors in daylight before we ship.
How do I know the size will fit?
Every listing shows the exact measured size in feet and inches and in centimeters. Handmade rugs vary slightly in width along their length. Use the size finder on the home page or chat or text us your room measurements.
What does shipping cost?
Nothing in the contiguous United States: rugs ship free, carefully packed, and go out the same or next business day with tracking by email. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada rates show at checkout; for other countries, contact us for a quote.
Can I return a rug?
Yes: rugs ordered online within 30 days of delivery, in the condition they arrived; rugs bought in our showrooms, within 7 days. Request the return first and we send instructions; local customers can bring it to either showroom. The return policy has the details, including return shipping.

Add a Durahold Plus pad, cut to your rug
Patented felt-and-rubber, cut to the exact size of the rug you choose. Keeps it flat and still on wood, tile and stone floors. Every rug page has a box to add it, so the two can arrive together.
